Is the first thing you will hear me say in the morning, I relish in those first few moments I have to myself, I plan my day and look at my lists. I never truly understood meaning of the importance of a good start to the day until I noticed my lists were never really going down, only increasing. It was at this point I learnt about necessity of productivity, most people focus on increasing efficiency and not improving effectiveness. To start your day, you must start it with the mindset of ‘first things first’.
There are many ways to improve your productivity, but I have found a way to improve not only my productivity but also my mindfulness and to make it better you can reach this balance in 3 simple steps, starting with understanding that the most effective productivity system won’t work unless you aren’t taking care of your mind and body, ergo I introduce to you, ‘Energy Management’
Step ONE: Coffee. I’m joking, slightly. What’s my purpose? What is my end goal, this could be a weekly goal, monthly, career or personal life. You need to have a purpose in order to self motivate to achieve your goal, and in my case cross items off my lists. Without purpose there is no motivation and without motivation, you aren’t really living your best life.
Step TWO: Let’s get physical. Have you ever spent a day doing absolutely nothing and you’re exhausted by 6pm? This is because you aren’t moving. You need to use your energy in order to create more energy. Start your morning with a 10 minute HIIT or yoga, if you don’t have much time, try walking to the next tube station or simply run up and down your stairs. Start the day by releasing those endorphins and you’ll feel so much better.
Step THREE: Connections, the simplest and easily the most important and overlooked. Our energy depends on our social connections our relationships and friendships. Thus, it is crucial that we take the time to develop and maintain strong connections with other people.
As long as you’re willing to change, you can become more productive, it’s not about working harder or longer but rather working better and concentrating on what is important and also taking care of your body and mind so you have the energy to be productive.
By using these 3 steps as a guide to improve your productivity, you will notice a change in your outlook in your life, you’ll have more time in the day and the ultimate goal reached HAPPINESS.
Give these steps a try and reap the benefits. I’d love to hear how this works for you.
